Esotronika is an artist whose ears are informed by the sound of the Rising Sun, whose elegiac ruminations are predicated on a lament for youthful ideals amidst a transmogrified, post-industrial reality. His introspective esotronic works occupy space as a singular entity, juxtaposing a tensile sobriety with the gravitas of the age – all set against the backdrop of an uncaring Universe.

Sculptis Glacies

Tom Holmes' photography of his ice sculptures form the basis of this video work, accompanied by ambient music derived from recordings of percussion improvisations performed in early 1985. The soundscape was generated using Max/MSP and produced using Propellerhead Reason. The video images were created from Holme's photography and processed using Vizzie modules in Max/MSP/Jitter, utilizing several original algorithms that incorporate Gregory Taylor's cool "Attractr" chaos generator (based on André Sier's cool Chaos library Navier-Stokes object) as well as some older ones of my own that I modified for video production that incorporate Karlheinz Essl's wonderful Real Time Composition Library to direct traffic. The work in its entirety is intended as a multi-media installation piece with optional live electronic/acoustic percussion, performed by Holmes.
